Fisheries Governance

The decline in fisheries resources has resulted in increased poverty, food insecurity and loss of livelihoods in coastal communities. This decline can be addressed through sustainable fisheries governance initiatives which are pivotal to ensuring continued access to fisheries resources.

Hen Mpoano approaches fisheries governance through research, multi-stakeholder engagements and policy advocacy. Our strategy also emphasizes piloting community-based fisheries management initiatives to inform national fisheries policies.
